As Empress XXVIII of Vancouver within the International Court System and the reigning Queen Mother of Canada, Joan-E has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s most visible and tireless advocates for 2SLGBTQ+ causes. Her platform has never been limited to performance — it has been a powerful tool for community engagement, public education, and transformational fundraising. Over the years, she has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for HIV/AIDS organizations, youth support programs, queer housing initiatives, and numerous local charities.

In addition, he has been celebrated with countless local and national accolades from 2SLGBTQ+ organizations, arts communities, and advocacy networks.
Joan-E has also been a cultural cornerstone in Vancouver’s West End, having performed weekly for over two decades and using every stage she’s graced — whether in bars, theatres, or ballrooms — as a space for inclusion, education, and joy. Her wit, warmth, and wisdom have made her a beloved figure, not only for her performances but for the mentorship she has extended to generations of queer performers and activists. Her presence has been vital in holding space for intergenerational connection and queer history.
